![]() Rolling Rock is popular here too, but it's from Pittsburgh and Newark - thus the outsider theme. Yuengling, although from Pottsville and located 70 miles outside of Philly and like an hour and a half away from Delco, is highly tied to the drinking culture of the locality. There was only one person drinking RR, Billy as he started getting mega-sus and looking for a way out. She was feeling included - and was drinking Yuengling. When Mare went over to the Ross house to watch a game and the whole gang was there. The Yuengling drinkers are those who are heavily based in the identity of the town and don't have such resentment.Īnd then something happened that made me feel validated by that. Mare drinks RR the most when she's in settings where she feels superior or resentful of her surroundings, her past, and the people nearby. I think the Rolling Rock and Yuengling dichotomy is actually tied to themes of community, connection, and outcasts. I just put on last week's episode and in an hour I'm sure I won't be any further along than I am now.Īs a lifetime Delco/Chesco/PhillyBucksco/Montco resident, I somewhat agree with you but also disagree with the part about authenticity. John was too pushy with "I need to hear you say it." That could be as plain as disbelief and he needed to hear him say it. The only things that would fit would be family, but it specifies the investigation. I don't think they would be devistating for Mare, though, do you? Feeling bad for Lori, sure. I guess the "devistating" part will be the Ross family's problems? They are mounting by the minute, Lori's her friend. I don't think Frank is involved unless Kevin was involved. I think Mare is going to remember what Zabel said, and go over everyone's alibis again and something will jump out at her. One of the girls who were kidnapped? Do they still tie into this story or are we completely done with that? Mare said they were unrelated. I'm assuming every line/scene is important. I'm still wondering who's voice it was that Siobhan didn't recognize from the video, and why that would matter. Otoh Siobhan seems like a good person and could have behaved that way with anyone. She seemed to know Erin well enough to want to take her home. I just can't figure how or why she'd be involved. He's guessing there's evidence about the biodad and even he's not interested in who it is. I don't think Dylan is involved beyond some significant assholery and he does want to keep dj, so that's why he wanted her journals burned. I'm thinking way too much about Kevin's death which is irrelevant in the investigation. At the station he's mentioning his mom to validate what he's saying, to defend him really. But look at how he practically shit himself with kenny. As tough as Dylan may be or think he is, I think he's more bark. In my mind, I'm comparing Dylan to the kids in the Wire, who were old beyond their years. Wouldn't want a stupid mistake by an arrogant kid to come back on anyone. Which I'm guessing would also be exactly a reason dealer people wouldn't want to be very involved with him. ![]() I just don't know if dylan would have had the experience or connections with other people at that age to throw his weight around with the town detective's son. What's Dylan, 18 now? So he would have been like 15 or so getting involved with all that stuff? Possible. IDK about dylan being involved, only because of the age difference. He did not have access to a gun, I assume. The overdose could have been ruled accidental. Hanging would have communicated clearly that this was intentional. He wanted to make sure he would not survive, whereas OD he could have. Kevin and the hanging - I thought he probably had enough. Maybe her cousin went to the police because he's involved, so throwing it onto the other deacon once that opportunity arose was very convenient. ![]() WTH is wrong with me, I did think that must involve the deacon(s) and then it went out of my head again. ![]() Synopsis: When her investigation takes a series of devastating turns, Mare's friends and family members process the fallout as she attempts to finally find her own way forward.
